This engaging panel discussion will focus on the history of the Gainsboro/NW area of Roanoke - once a thriving center of African American culture, business, and community life - and examine how past polices and development decisions continue  to shape housing access and opportunity today.  Panelists will share insights into urban renewal, displacement, generational wealth impacts, and the ongoing efforts to promote fair and equitable housing.

The event offers an opportunity for community members, housing professionals, and local leaders to reflect on the past while discussing pathways towards a more inclusive future.

We encourage all who are interested in housing equity, local history, and community development to attend this important conversation.
